Privacy Policy
Veya ("Veya", "we", "us") builds a nutrition companion designed around a simple promise: your health data belongs to you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have. We do not sell your personal data, and Veya contains no advertising.
This document is a template provided for the pre-launch website and is not legal advice. Confirm details such as the governing entity and jurisdiction with qualified counsel before publishing.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Profile & goals — name (optional), sex, age, height, weight, activity level and nutrition targets, used to calculate your daily calorie and macro goals.
- Food logs — meals you record, including meal photos, barcodes, text descriptions, quantities and the nutrition values you keep or edit.
- Account details — if you create an account for backup and sync, your email address and authentication identifiers.
Information collected with your permission
- Camera & photos — accessed only to capture or select a meal image for analysis. Images are processed to estimate nutrition; you control what you keep.
- Apple Health — if you connect it, Veya reads steps and active energy to complete your daily picture. This is display-only and is not shared with third parties.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & diagnostics — anonymised app-usage events and crash reports that help us fix bugs and improve the app.
- Device information — basic technical data such as device model and operating-system version.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core service — recognising meals, calculating calories and macros, and showing your progress.
- To generate personalised, non-judgemental insights based on what you log.
- To back up and, with Premium, sync your data across your devices.
- To keep Veya reliable and secure, and to improve it over time.
We do not use your health or food data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
3. AI processing of meals
When you scan or describe a meal, the image or text is sent securely to our processing service to estimate the food and its nutrition. This data is used to return your result and to operate the feature; it is not used to advertise to you. You can always edit or delete a result.
4. Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf under contract:
- Supabase — authentication, database and secure storage for your account and backups.
- Google Firebase — anonymised analytics and crash reporting (Crashlytics).
- Apple — App Store distribution, in-app purchases, and HealthKit (only with your permission).
- Our AI processing provider — meal image and text analysis.
5. Your rights & choices
- Access & export — your data is yours; you can export it at any time.
- Deletion — you can delete individual entries or your entire account and its data.
- Permissions — camera and Apple Health access can be revoked in your device settings at any time.
- Analytics — diagnostics are anonymised and used only to improve the app.

6. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and reputable infrastructure to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.
8. Children
Veya is not directed to children under the age required by your jurisdiction (typically 13, or 16 in parts of the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date, and where appropriate, an in-app notice.
